Education plays key role in the development of children globally, this fact has been the cause for us at Queen Luciano Foundation to continue our partnership with Don Bosco Youth Animation Centre Akure for the 2023 Holiday Camp, on the quest to support, encourage, educate and train children of different backgrounds with academics, skills acquisition, sports and other necessary forms of entertainment in Akure the capital city of Ondo state, Nigeria.
The holiday camp spanned a period of one month with several activities such as academic session “during which all major subjects were taught from nursery classes to senior secondary school classes”, skill acquisition session “where children were trained on skills such as art and designs, catering and confectionery, ICT, shoe making, electrical, dance and many more”.
The skill acquisition classes featured computer training where children were taught the basics of graphics design, photoshop, Microsoft excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and many more. The catering and confectionery class saw campers through the theoretical and practical aspect of catering.
The art and design class focused on the in-born creativity of the children, providing them the guidance and tools needed to express themselves through art. Other skills taught during the holiday camp includes shoe making, cosmetology and dance, all these were birthed from the vision to groom all children that participated in the summer camp to be successful entrepreneur who will provide solutions to problems in the future.
