The celebration of Children’s Day is an international holiday observed every year on May 27th, the celebration in Nigeria gives children the huge opportunity to fully participate in several social activities such as educative trips and parties. Several public and private organizations celebrate the day in big ways by organizing parties and assistance for children from different backgrounds, all in a bid to make children feel loved, cherished and celebrated.
Children’s Day is also a day to raise awareness and sensitize people on the importance of education to children due to the fact that it enables them discover numerous ways to reason critically, it influences their level of creativity and imagination, it will enlighten them to see new ideas, and it guides children to make right career choices they would like to thread as adults.
This year May 27 was a big day for some students in Ondo state with the Educate a Child initiative of Queen Luciano Foundation. It was an initiative aimed at celebrating Children’s Day and awarding scholarship to outstanding students of different backgrounds.
It was indeed a moment of joy and happiness for the students of these schools:
1. Peace Avenue Model college.
2. Estate high school Shagari.
3. Trinity college Odode Idanre.
4. Benmaf High School.
5. Baptist High School.
6. Ijapo High School.
These students were happy to be in a social gathering to show their talents and intellectual capacity in the presence of their teachers and parents. The program started some minutes to 11am after the registration of all schools present, the representatives of the schools came out with different points to express their opinions on the topics given to them to debate on, and it was really an educative session for everyone present and after the debate, there was a moment of games and the student , teachers and parents who were present appreciated it. The program ended with the announcements of the 10 successful representatives of the schools who were outstanding in the debate and each were given a scholarship that span throughout their secondary school.

2. Lebi Success : Peace Avenue Model college.
3. Bankole Joshua :Peace Avenue Model college.
4. Oluwaseun Raphael: Trinity college Odode Idanre.
5. Agbafor Blessing: Trinity college Odode Idanre.
6. Olayiwola Temiloluwa : Estate high school.
7. Adenoma Peace: Baptist High school.
8. Odeyemi Loveth: Baptist high school.
9. Yorke Victoria :Ijapo high school.
10. Bayode Adeyinka: Benmaf high school.
There was joy in the faces of these students who were given the scholarship afterward and the manager advised and encouraged them to concentrate more on their studies as this will also encourage the foundation to do more. In a special way the students, teachers and parents present sent their regards and appreciation to the founder and the Queen Luciano Foundation team who brought happiness to the heart of the children present and they prayed for the her and wish the foundation well as they strife in building a strong foundation for the children. A certificate of participation was given to all schools present and also all participants of the debate competition.
