Children are dressed in their best clothes, and there are parades, music, dancing, and other fun activities. Parents and guardians also give gifts to their children to make them feel special.
The government, schools, and non-governmental organizations use this day to raise awareness on children’s issues such as education, healthcare, and child protection. NGOs also prepare campaigns to raise awareness about child abuse and exploitation, and to sell the significance of children’s welfare in Nigeria.
Among several NGOs that made the 2023 Children’s Day a big occasion, Queen Luciano Foundation was not excepted as the foundation continues her annual tradition of celebrating every child with love especially on this special day. on the 27th May 2023, Queen Luciano Foundation team visited the Ondo State Children’s Home Oba-Ile Akure, this is an orphanage owned by the state government and housing over 120 children.
Apart from the donation of food items and clothing materials which are the primary needs of the orphanage, the team of the foundation also spent quality time with the children with lots of lovely and encouraging words as well as playing several entertaining games and competition with the children.
