CELEBRATING LOVE; A Visit to Ago Ireti Lepers’ Camp Akure, Ondo State

February 14 is a vital day culturally and commercially set aside for the celebration of love in many regions of the world, it is tagged Valentine’s Day. The celebration is often accustomed with sending greeting cards (known as “valentines”), offering confectionery, presenting flowers exchange of gifts, and several charitable activities such as visitation to the sick, feeding the destitute and many more.

Several Non-Governmental Organizations seize this opportunity to extend their hands of love to the less privileged in the community, for the year 2023 Valentine’s Day, Queen Luciano Foundation was not left out in the huge celebration and amazing show of love at Ago Ireti Lepers Camp.

Ago Ireti is a leper’s camp in the city of Akure, a previously isolated colony of lepers founded in the year 1943, for over 80years, it still remain the safest settlement for people living with leprosy to live a normal life with access to basic amenities instead of the culturally known isolated life.

It was a moment of emotion and joy for the inhabitants of this camp when Queen Luciano Foundation team arrived in their midst with gift items such as foodstuff, toiletries, detergents and walking sticks. On behalf of the people, Pa. Akin Solomon appreciated the founder, and the entire team for making it an obligation to always care for the people of the Ago Ireti especially on notable days.

With Your Support, Many More Lives Will Be Touched

The day did not just end at Ago Ireti, the team returned to the foundation’s office where valentine’s day was also celebrated among staff, volunteers and media team of the foundation with exchange of gifts.
