bEvery year, Children’s Day serves as a poignant reminder of the innocence, brilliance, and potential that lie within every child. At Queen Luciano Foundation, we believe that children, regardless of their health or social status, deserve to feel seen, celebrated, and loved.
In celebration of Children’s Day 2025, the Benin branch of our Foundation embarked on a heartfelt mission, to take gifts, love, and emotional support to hospitalised children at Faith Mediplex Hospital and Modic Hospital. It was more than a celebration. It was a mission of hope, healing, and compassion.
A Warm Reception at Faith Mediplex
Our team arrived at Faith Mediplex around noon, and the excitement from the nurses and hospital staff was truly overwhelming. It was evident that they had been anticipating our arrival, a testament to the growing recognition of the Queen Luciano Foundation’s work in the community.
Choosing a hospital as the venue for this year’s outreach turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made. The environment allowed for deep, meaningful connections, not just with the children, but with their parents, caregivers, and the medical staff caring for them daily.
Gifting moments and shared smiles
As we moved through the children’s ward, our volunteers shared beautifully wrapped gifts with the young patients. Despite their illnesses, the smiles that lit up their faces were priceless. Their parents were visibly moved, offering heartfelt thanks and words of appreciation to the Foundation.
Some even offered to create content for us, such as videos, pictures, and kind messages, showing just how much the visit meant to them. These spontaneous acts of gratitude were a reflection of the genuine impact the Foundation is making in these families’ lives.
A Deeper encounter of healing and love at Modic Hospital
We left Faith Mediplex for Modic Hospital to extend the hand of love and compassion to the children there. It was a very warm welcome, too, as the nurses and staff were excited to see us. We went to the children’s ward and shared our gifts with the sick children as we also snapped and did content with them. We were then taken to the Intensive Care Unit.
As we approached, we met a woman crying profusely and asked what the matter was. Then we were taken to the ward as only two staff are allowed in the Intensive Care Unit ward. We met a premature baby on oxygen and said a word of prayer, and encouraged the woman. The nurses said if we can help her that we should, so we told her we are not promising anything, but we would see what we could do.
The children’s day celebration was a memorable one as usual. What is more fun is choosing to celebrate with children in the hospital who really needed to experience the warmth and compassion of both family and non-family members alike. This shows that the vision and mission of the Queen Luciano Foundation continues to create huge impact among members of the society.
