Many young people today are growing up in a world filled with health challenges, social pressures, and limited access to information about technology and personal development. Unfortunately, these gaps often lead to poor lifestyle choices and missed opportunities for self-growth.
Without early exposure to health education and modern skill development, adolescents may struggle to make informed decisions that affect their future. Recognizing this urgent need, Queen Luciano Foundation (QLF) partnered with Junior Chamber International (JCI), FUTA, to host an impactful one-day awareness campaign, “Wellness and Innovation for a Greater Tomorrow”.
The project was designed to inspire young students to adopt healthy habits while introducing them to modern career possibilities in technology and innovation. The event took place on October 2, 2025, at Aquinas College, Akure, bringing together facilitators, volunteers, and over a hundred enthusiastic students.
Setting the Stage for Impact

The QLF and JCI teams arrived at Aquinas College around 9:00 a.m., warmly welcomed by the school management and students who had gathered at the assembly ground. The theme of the program, “Wellness and Innovation for a Greater Tomorrow,” captured the essence of what the day represented: the power of knowledge to transform lives.

The program opened with a brief introduction by Miss Bridget, who represented Queen Luciano Foundation and introduced the foundation’s mission of empowering communities through health, education, and social awareness. Her introduction set the tone for a morning filled with learning, inspiration, and engagement.
Inspiring Health Awareness Sessions

The first presentation was delivered by Miss Esther, who spoke passionately on the topic “Building a Healthy Lifestyle as an Adolescent.” She discussed essential habits such as maintaining proper hygiene, eating balanced meals, exercising regularly, and avoiding harmful substances.
Her session also addressed mental health, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, emotional balance, and seeking help when needed. The students listened attentively, interacting and asking questions that revealed both curiosity and concern about their well-being.
For many of them, it was their first time hearing about how small, consistent health choices could affect their long-term wellness.
Exploring the Power of Technology

Representatives from JCI FUTA followed with a captivating session on “The Impact of Technology in the Lives of Adolescents.” They discussed the importance of digital literacy, encouraging students to see technology as a tool for creativity, education, and problem-solving rather than mere entertainment.
The students were introduced to possibilities in fields like graphic design, coding, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship, showing them that skill acquisition can start early, even while in secondary school.
The collaboration between QLF and JCI perfectly blended health consciousness with career empowerment, two areas vital for youth development in the modern age.
A Warm Gesture of Appreciation
At the end of the program, the principal, Rev. Fr. Ajayi, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to both organizations for their thoughtful initiative. He commended the partnership between QLF and JCI for promoting education beyond the classroom and presented a token of ₦5,000 as a mark of appreciation.
Both organizations received the gift with gratitude, reaffirming their commitment to doing even more for young people in Akure and beyond.
Extending the Message Beyond the School Walls

After the school session, the QLF and JCI teams proceeded to Hospital Road, Akure, for a brief community awareness campaign. They interacted with shop owners and passersby, sharing the foundation’s vision and distributing awareness materials.
While some individuals showed interest and promised to follow the foundation’s activities on social media, others simply appreciated the effort. Regardless of the response, the outreach created visibility and spread the message of health and empowerment beyond the school environment.
Wrapping up
The Empowerment Drive 2025 stands as a reflection of Queen Luciano Foundation’s belief that real transformation begins with awareness. By merging health education with skill acquisition advocacy, the initiative empowered young minds to envision a brighter and healthier future for themselves and their communities.
Through partnerships like this with Junior Chamber International (JCI) FUTA, QLF continues to fulfill its mission, reaching into schools, streets, and communities to create lasting social impact. The success of this campaign is not just in the number of students reached, but in the renewed sense of purpose it sparked in each of them, a reminder that every young person deserves both wellness and opportunity.
